JYE LABS practical guide

Extract video frames every 2 seconds from a selected range

Turn selected moments in a local video into still images. Save one scene for a thumbnail or extract a set of frames for a storyboard, reference sheet, or presentation. Use a video you own or have permission to reuse.

Before you start

An MP4, WebM, or other video your browser can decode
A scene or time range to capture
A JPG or PNG output choice

Step-by-step

  1. Open the video

Select the video from your device or try the built-in sample. Check that the player can show the picture and seek through the clip before extracting images. MOV playback depends on its codecs and your browser.

  2. Capture a single scene

Pause near the moment you want and adjust the playback position. In Single Frame mode, choose JPG or PNG and extract the image. Check the saved image because seeking may not land on exactly the same decoded frame in every browser.

  3. Extract a batch when needed

In Auto Batch Extract, set the start, end, and interval. A larger interval produces fewer images and is useful for an initial storyboard. Try a short section before extracting a long clip.

  4. Review and download

Review the extracted images, then save selected frames or download a ZIP. Check that the images cover the scenes you intended and that important text is legible.

Worked example

Illustrative example

Three planned captures from the built-in sample

Open the tool and load its five-second sample. Set the range from 0 to 4 seconds and the interval to 2 seconds. The planned capture times are 0, 2, and 4 seconds. Review the three previews, then download the ZIP. Browser seeking can differ slightly from the requested timestamps.

Input
Built-in five-second sample
Start / end
0 / 4 seconds
Interval
2 seconds
Expected captures
3: at 0, 2, and 4 seconds

Check the result

  • There are three previews for the sample settings above.
  • Open the ZIP and check each image, its filename, and the visible scene.
  • If the last frame is blank, move the end time slightly earlier and generate again.

Limits and tips

  • Supported files depend on browser video decoding, not the filename extension alone.
  • This is a still-image extraction tool. It does not download videos from websites or export a GIF or edited video.
  • Long videos and dense extraction intervals use more device memory and processing time.

Questions

Can I paste a YouTube URL?

No. Open a supported video file from your device. Only use files you are authorized to process.

Can I export all images together?

Yes. The results gallery offers a ZIP download for multiple extracted frames.

Is extraction frame-perfect?

Browser seeking and decoding can affect the captured frame. Check results before relying on exact timing.

Is the video sent to a processing server?

Frame extraction runs in your browser. Page delivery, external fonts, and analytics can involve separate requests.
