Type the time in and time out for each day (9:00, 9am or 1730 all work).

Enter unpaid break minutes and your hourly rate.

  3. 3

Read total hours, regular and overtime hours and gross pay.

When to use it

Checking a paycheck

Enter the week from your own notes and compare total hours and overtime with the pay stub.

Filling a weekly timesheet

Copy the decimal total straight into the payroll form your employer uses.

Night shifts

Shifts that end after midnight are counted correctly without splitting them by hand.

Good to know

  • Times past midnight are handled: an 10pm–6am shift counts as 8 hours.
  • Federal overtime is counted per workweek, so each week of a bi-weekly period is checked on its own.
  • Decimal hours (7.75) are what most payroll systems expect; the table shows both.

FAQ

How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?

Divide the minutes by 60: 45 minutes is 0.75 hours.

Only enter unpaid breaks, usually meal breaks of 30 minutes or more.
